R&D Innovation
PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical Company has achieved major breakthroughs in wax‑oriented technological innovation driven by its landmark Oil‑Wax Co‑Production project. With a total investment of 830 million RMB, the project realized groundbreaking, construction, mechanical completion and commissioning within 2023. In December of the same year, it produced qualified 80# microcrystalline wax, marking PetroChina’s first‑ever domestic production of microcrystalline wax. In the first half of 2024, the supporting 100 kt/a bright‑oil hydrogenation unit came on stream and manufactured HVI120BS lube base oil. This milestone made Fushun Petrochemical the sole domestic enterprise capable of supplying full‑range paraffin wax, mixed‑crystal wax, microcrystalline wax and bright stock. Further R&D progress continued in March 2025, when the company developed cold‑chain packaging wax to fill the domestic market gap, alongside commercialized 2#(B) rubber‑protective wax that expands its high‑value specialty wax portfolio.

Research to Reality
PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical Company keeps advancing independent innovation for polyolefin and new chemical‑material technologies. In July 2025, construction started on its new 200 kt/a solution‑process polyethylene unit, adopting PetroChina’s first self‑developed 200 kt/a solution‑phase polyethylene technology package, which represents a key leap forward in proprietary polyethylene process capability. Beyond wax and polyethylene, the company has built a complete product matrix of bottle‑cap‑grade polyolefin materials covering cold‑fill, hot‑fill, pressure‑resistant, special‑shape and high‑flow grades. Continuous transformation from laboratory research to commercial mass production empowers the enterprise to expand high‑value‑added product lines and strengthen its competitive edge in both domestic and global petrochemical markets.
